We enhance the quality of education through non-formal education and extracurricular. These include English, computer, community library, and football and life skill program. Please see what we have done for the last three months ending 2015 with many positive changes and results in the organization for its beneficiaries in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Angkor Wat Bike4Kids
In December 2015, Over 80 students of our school including staff and volunteer as well as life skills students had a great chance to join bike riding for Bike4kids at Angkor Wat complex. We were very happy with this charity event. The students are able to be independent and challenging in the large group of and crowded people. They were very happy and enjoyable to the event.
One student, Chantha express his feeling about participating in Angkor Wat Bike4Kids. “My name is Chantha. I am a student of Salariin Kampuchea. I want to share with you about my feeling and experience in the Angkor Wat Bike4Kids. Honestly, I am very happy and enthusiastic with the event organized because I can see a lot of people joined and as I know there are aof people pay for registration and they take this money for the charity NGOs in Cambodia. It is good for my health and my talent too. It also makes me independent and able to care of myself during the racing competition. Thanks to Salariin Kampuchea that allowed me to participate in the event”.
English Activities
We run 12 English classes, we are able to equip 220 disadvantaged students in English language for let’s go 1, 5, 6, Elementary and Pre-intermediate. They are able to read and write English alphabetical and use Basic English for communication. For adult classes, they are able to communicate with other people by using English language fluently.
We conduct a final test of let’s go 1, as the result, 42 of 43 students passed final exam. We did a final test, so 44 of 44 students who did final test let’s go 4 passed all successfully and 36 out of 36 students who did final test let’s go 5 passed all. Ending result, the students are aware of working in group well and actively. All Beginner Class students are able to speak Basic English for classroom interaction. Students are able to communicate with staff and foreign volunteers fluently by speaking English. Furthermore, the students have fully ability to upgrade their English capacity.
Computer Activities
We teach students about Internet & Email and Power point. Students are able to create their own email, send email to their friends, and teacher and they are able to use internet for researching as well as its advantages and disadvantages of using internet. They are also able to design slide show using MS. PowerPoint by themselves after lessons.
We recruit students for the new class as the results, 11 students are accepted and selected to equip the new basic computer course at 10-11:00 class. We conduct a Final Microsoft Excel test and a pair assignment. So 8 of 8 students passed the certificate test of MS. Excel and they will receive a certificate for their successful graduation. We run another two classes for MS Excel course, 20 students are equipped with MS. Excel course at 4:30 and 5:30 class. They are able to build a chart, use formulas: average, sum, and format cell.
Library Activities
We run a daily library from Monday to Friday, in the average, 53 students visit library daily in average. In the library, we provide computer access to visit for typing, computer practice and internet research, 30 children and young people are able to type computer with correct fingers and keyboard.
We conduct a reading club, so students improve English and Khmer reading skill and have fun with their spare time. Our librarian conduct art class, students are able to draw their favourite pictures, and fold picture of animals (Butterflies, Key chains). The students are able to improve their listening skill in English, and they understand the meaning about the movies and they recognize educated message from the movies.They are able to improve listening, remembering, general knowledge, improve their educational habit and are able to answer to questions. Our librarian and students decorated the so our Library looks nicer and attractive with colourful pictures, Butterflies and Birds. Students got more knowledge and attend in library.
Football Activities
We run football training so there are 32 players are selected to participate in this year soccer league in Siem Reap. There are divided in to three teams are; U18 boys and U18 girls, and U16 boys. Most players are able to walk the ball and kick the ball to the goals appropriately.
One student, Sreylia express her feeling about football participation. “I am Sreylia, I am very happy with football program of Salariin Kampuchea as my teacher train me and my friends every Sunday afternoon and moreover, I have a chance to join with other children from NGOs in Siem Reap for Junior Soccer League. I can play and communicate with them. Football makes me healthy and fitness. Now I know how to walk a ball and I know how to kick it to the goal that before I cannot play the football”.
In the next three months, our life skill will visit a vocational training center and the will have final exam from the course as well as do final trip. We will recruit new students for life skill program. English program will two new beginner classes, they will also have a certificate test. For English program we will final and certificate test. We will continue participating Siem Reap Junior soccer league.
