We enhance the quality of education is Salariin Kampuchea’s mission through different activities. To achieve the quality of our educational program, we provide variety activities through English, computer, and, library, life skill program. Please see what we have done for the last three months mainly to improve children’s literacy in our community library.
Attendance Improvement
When we conduct a variety of activities and include more educational tools including art, drawing, and handicraft. They make photo frame, coloring and painting in the library day by day, daily attendance of children and young people is increasing sharply in the community library daily (There are 64 students visit in average). Students are able to draw their favorite pictures, work together and are more creative.
Literacy and Reading Habit Improvement
After our librarian performs a storytelling and reading clubs in the activity program, the program become more popular for the children and young people so the students are able to read by themselves and the students start to read more and more. Students improve English and Khmer reading skill and have fun with their spare time. They are able to improve listening, remembering, general knowledge, improve their educational habit and are able to answer questions.
Movie show
Every friday, there is a movie show. There are now 68 movies available on the library computer. They are all in English, some of them even have English subtitles.
The students are able to improve their listening skill in English, they understand the meaning of the movies and they recognize educated message from the movies.
Students Motivation
One student, Panha expresses his feeling about reading in the library.
“Hello! My name is Panha I am feeling well and happy when I go to a library because I can play different things like games, reading, listening the story and watch movie. Actually I improve my reading a lot because of a teacher help while I am reading when I join the library. Before I can read a little bit and slowly but now my reading is improving".
One student, Theara express her feeling about the library. “Hello my name is Theara. My feeling about library is that I am happy. I enjoy playing games, reading book, painting pictures, and watching movie. What I like the most is a group reading".
In the next three months, We continue to conduct storytelling, drawing and painting, art and music. We will make a certificate test for English program.
