We enhance the quality of education is Salariin Kampuchea’s mission through different programs through English, computer, and, library, life skill program. To achieve the quality of our educational program, we provide variety activities. Please see what we have done for the last three months mainly to improve children’s English program.

Classroom painting

With friends and teachers from Ireland, our students and staff did great job to paint and decorate their English classroom to look nicer at our school. After painting the classroom wall, they fold and cut some English words and phrases to hand them on the wall of the classroom in order to be easy to access of English vocabulary and language uses. They also make some posters to have a better look. They have a great fun together.

Capacity building and quality improvement

Teacher training

By partnership with Donabate Portran Education Together National School (DPETNS) from Ireland, our English teachers have been provided a teacher training. They conduct a multi teacher training topics to improve teaching strategies and techniques at our school. These topics included classroom management, student motivation and encouragement, having fun in the lessons at all levels, correction and feedbacks, how to teach kids and adults effectively, how to use resources effectively and how to use song and music in English lessons.

After the training offered, they want to make sure if our teachers and staff have applied what they have been trained in their lessons, the teacher trainers arranged classroom demonstration as well as participated in teaching English together with our teachers. As a result, it is great because our students get more involved and motivated to learn. Our teachers get more independent and confident to lead, teach and manage their students effectively.

Management training

Besides working with our English teachers, DPETNS conducts a management and leadership training to our director and manager which focus on three areas, management, leadership and communication. These topics are very useful and interesting for us to apply in our daily work.

Painting and drawing

Our librarian schedules their work with a variety of activities. It includes also drawing and painting activities for our children who access to the library. Our librarian search and download a draft pictures and then they work with children how to paint and draw together with colorful instruction into the pictures. The children are very happy and having fun with their production.

Certificate graduation

In a few last months ago, we arranged and conducted a certificate test for English program and computer program.  90 percent of our computer students who graduated passed the computer certificate exam of computer for administration course and 91 percent  of English students who graduated passed the English certificate test for English let’s go 3. The students were happy to their results.

One student, Sreyny express her feeling about the English certificate test. “Hello my name is Sreyny. I am 18 years old. I study in grade 11. I live in Cambodia. I study English at Salariin Kampuchea. In my free time I like reading a book, do homework. Before I have the test, I always read a book such as read a lesson that teacher teach me last days, review about grammar, do homework and read the text books. When I have exam I feel nervous of my exam. However, I still try to do it. After I had exam, I feel happy and nervous too. When I passed the exam I am very happy with my result. Finally, I can say that I try to study so it can make me get a good result”.

Another student, Kimteang express his feel about the computer certificate test. “Hello everyone, I used to be a computer student at Salariin Kampuchea. Here is my feeling about studying computer and exam. I think it is important for me in the future. If we have a computer skill, it is easy to find a job because it is easy to work and we get information around the world through the computer. Furthermore, it makes admin work easier and faster to record, type and keep documentation. I am very happy that Salariin Kampuchea created this program offering us with specific skill for the future.   Before my exam, I really studied hard. I review the lessons at home and continued practice at school too. Finally, I am happy when I saw my name passed the test. Thanks my computer teacher”.

Community Engagement-Parent Workshop

We invited our community and parents of our students to join a meeting. We wanted to share our future plan and our current programs as well as policies of Salariin Kampuchea to the community. They are happy with what Salariin Kampuchea has been doing.

In the next three months, we conduct spelling bee competition for semifinal and final. We will deliver certificates to all students who passed their graduated successfully during certificate celebration party. We will participate in Time-Released Bonus Day on 21 September 2016 on GlobalGiving site. We hope you all continue supporting us.

We would like to thank everyone who supported us through GlobalGiving. With your help we hope to continue and build upon the success of our non-formal education program.

Warmest regards,

The Salariin Kampuchea Team
