New Goals for the New School Year

By Amy M Baty-Herbert | Project Coordinator

Dear Project Supporters,

The new school year has begun and students who would not have been able to afford school on their own were able to go to school thanks to you.  Your generous ongoing support is greatly appreciated!   The school set up new goals for the 2019-2020 school year based on information gathered from the 2018-2019 school year.

According to the report from the 2018-2019 school year, 92 percent of pupils K1 – K2 successfully completed the course requirements and were promoted to the next class; and 90 percent of nursery pupils were promoted to K-1. A small percentage of pupils failed their classes while a few dropped out at the beginning of the school year.

The goal this school year is to have a 100 percent retention rate. In order to accomplish this, the principal stated that the school is devising a program that would target the most vulnerable pupils to help provide them with the resources they need to stay in school.

With regard to the small percentage of pupils failing classes, the school is also working on devising a program that would help these pupils succeed this school year. As with the retention rate, BEST, Inc. will also work closely with the staff to improve these pupils' academic performance. An after- school tutoring program in-home or at the school will aid immensely in this effort.

Liberia's future leaders are today's children and youth.  We thank you for everything that you are doing;  your ongoing support will help with ongoing student and teacher needs in Liberia. We encourage you to start a monthly recurring donation here.  Even a few dollars a month will go a long way.  Please also share this with your contacts and invite them to consider supporting this ongoing project.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at GlobalGiving@developafrica.org.

With great appreciation,

Amy & the Develop Africa Team
