Ellsworth Bands and Creating Hope International are joining in a local-global project to support the bands, to help educate Afghans through the Afghan Institute of Learning and feed needy people.
Creating Hope International partners with the Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL) an Afghan NGO, to provide education and health services to 350,000 Afghan women and children annually. Ellsworth is the smallest community school in lower Michigan with an instrumental music program for students in 5th – 12th grade. Except for the teacher, funding for everything must be raised by the community. The Good Samaritan Food Pantry assists families in Antrim Co. MI with food, clothing and emergency needs.
Education improves the quality of life for students no matter where they are, particularly those in Afghanistan. Students enrolled in band not only learn to play an instrument, they learn to work as a team to produce beautiful music.
160 Afghan children become literate or learn a skill. Students in the Ellsworth community schools band program come to understand more about the world. 96 children in Ellsworth learn to play an instrument and create music as a band.
