Help Feed Hungry Children in Zimbabwe

Happy Tuesday Supporters!  

Although donations have been up and down this year, with some careful bulk purchases and forward planning, every child at our rural primary school in Marula has been smiling and leaving school with a full belly every single day. I have to admit, there were a few moments this year when I had mini panics about whether we could make it all work, but our monthly donors and everyone who has supported us, whether once-off or regularly, came through. You opened our emails, read our appeals, and came running to our aid. Those sleepless nights turned out to be completely unnecessary, and I really want to thank every single person who has donated to this project over the years — we couldn’t do it without you!

It is hot, hot, hot here, and with Christmas approaching the heat is only getting stronger. The school is winding down for a much-needed break, but following Giving Tuesday we were able to raise enough to make the last school dinner of the year a little more special, with a sweet treat for every child. Thank you again for making this possible!

We’re clearing out the cupboards for the break and sending most of the children home with food parcels to help them while school is closed. Then, on 10th January, we’ll be back, check the bank balance, head back to the shops to refill, and start 2026. I have no doubt that with everyone who has shown up for us, we will do it all again next year.

From every teacher, cook, student, and community member at our school, we wish you and your family a very special and amazing festive season. We can’t wait to connect with you again in the new year.

Hello To Supporters and Fundraisers of Marula School all around the world,

School is going really well, we are at capacity and recently we won a local music competition and as such the children and staff are all on a big high! Our new head of the school has some amazing ideas to help the school move towards becoming financially sustainable however we have a lot of fundraising to do before we can start these ife changing program. 

On September 2nd, we face a critical shortfall in our feeding program for the final term of 2025. The total expenses amount to $3,201.54, covering the wages for our two dedicated cooks and the procurement of food supplies. However, our current funds stand at only $231.76. As a valued past donor, you're aware of the profound impact our program has on the children we serve. We urgently seek your support to bridge this gap and ensure the continuation of our vital work as we are not sure where else we can turn with such short notice, sadly we have lost a local business donation as their business has been forced to close in the current climate. It was so unexpected for us.

Our school in Marula, Zimbabwe, serves as a beacon of hope for now over 250 day scholars. For many of these children, the meal provided at school is their only source of nutrition for the day. One such student walks over an hour each way to attend school, relying solely on our feeding program for sustenance. In addition to daily lunches, we provide weekend food packs and fresh fruit to ensure the children's nutritional needs are met throughout the week.

Every contribution, regardless of size, directly supports the children and helps us reach our goal. We have been beside these children every day because of donors like you and we really do value your commitment and support and we don't take it easy having to write this report.
