As the year presses on, we're thrilled to report that the 22 horses at Stud remain in excellent health and high spirits, all thanks to the unwavering support of our incredible donors.
Minnie, our newest addition since February, is thriving in her new home. She’s settled in beautifully, loves to play in the paddock with our team, and is progressing wonderfully in her light-riding sessions. Minnie has already started light poy rides as a guide horse and has shown her fearless spirit, even enjoying trips to the beach.
We've enjoyed reflecting on morevvisitors to Gili Trawangan choosing stud rescue, and ethical pony rides over cheaper options with overworked, underfed horses.
Our efforts to improve farrier care on the island continue to grow. We're offering free workshops to locals interested in learning to trim horses' hooves, but there’s still a significant challenge in convincing them to invest in higher-quality shoes. We remain committed to finding an affordable, lasting solution.
With rainy season approaching, we’re considering building additional stables to ensure that every horse has a dry, secure stall. Although our current paddock shelters are useful, an extra set of stables would give us peace of mind. This crucial project will cost approximately USD$2,000.
In addition, we face rising costs for pellet feed and shipping, with our next order projected to be around USD$3,500. This feed will sustain our herd for 3-4 months, but securing it is becoming an ongoing challenge.
None of this would be possible without your continued generosity. Your contributions have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of these beautiful animals, and we are deeply grateful.
A final note...
Please consider sharing our story with others who may be inspired by our mission. Every donation, big or small, ensures that we can keep caring for these horses and expanding our programs. Together, we can do even more to give these horses the life they deserve. Thank you for standing with us!
