Dear Supporters,
Thank you for your continued generosity and love for the horses in our care. Here’s an update on what we’ve been up to and how your support has made a difference:
A New Arrival: Seven Joins the Family
In November last year, we welcomed Seven, a beautiful mare, to our sanctuary. Her previous owner was relocating and needed to find her a forever home. Seven has a wonderful temperament, though she’s not suited for beginners. For now, we’re enjoying spending time with her, getting to know her personality, and, of course, falling in love all over again.
Expanding Our Home
We’ve built five new stables! With heavy rains battering the island over the past three months, we decided none of our horses should stay out at night. While this was a necessary step to ensure their comfort and safety, it has depleted our savings. The good news is that all our horses are now dry and happy—no matter the weather!
Empowering Local Communities
Thanks to the generosity of Dr. Chris Beggs, we provided a full set of tools to Ruki, one of our trained farriers. This aligns with our ongoing mission to train local islanders and equip them with the tools to provide essential farrier services, improving animal welfare across the region.
Collaborative Clinics
In November, we proudly participated in another veterinary clinic alongside international vets, local experts, and esteemed academics such as Dr. Diah Purwitasari, President of the Nusa Tenggara Barat Veterinary Association, and Dr. Kholik, Dean of UNDIKMA’s Veterinary Faculty. These clinics have been invaluable in educating veterinary students and improving the well-being of animals in our community. We’re thrilled to see the ripple effect of this knowledge-sharing.
Eric’s Recovery
Eric gave us a scare with a serious bout of colic. Since we cannot officially diagnose illnesses, we relied on symptom monitoring and guidance from qualified vets. After a stressful few days, we’re happy to report Eric made a full recovery. It’s a stark reminder of the challenges of equine care, but moments like these reinforce our commitment to these incredible animals.
Immediate Needs: Food Supply
The heavy rains have not only drained our savings but also prevented us from hosting visitors, a vital source of income. Our pellet food supply will run out within a week, and we currently lack the funds to place a new order. Ensuring the horses have a consistent food supply is critical, and we need your help to make it happen.
