Project Update

By Ibrahim Moigua | Project Manager

AID Sierra Leone provided support for victims in the form of emergency supplies like food, water and clothing to about 100 victims and survivors of the deadly flood.

The flooding took place on the 2nd of August, 2019 in several communities in Freetown, including Culvert, one of the most affected communities. So many houses were destroyed in that community. The tragedy left more than 13,000 homeless and majority of the survivors are children and women who need urgent recovery from this disaster.

Between 2017 and 2018, AID-SL supported over 100 beneficiaries with SME grants in the Culvert community of which 80% were women. These women have lost everything!

The organization continues to help the affected victims, especially women and children recover psychologically from the trauma and also helping to keep their hopes alive through one-to-one counseling and other community engagements.

We say a big thank you to our partners and friends who donated their hard-earned cash towards this project. Together, we're heling keep hopes alive.
