Dear Friends,
I hope this finds you well. We are doing okay in Kisumu Kenya where we normally have perennial flooding.
Last year experienced much rainfall which was dubbed El nino by the weather forecasters. It started last year November and extended to January 2024.
The rainfall destroyed our roads, houses, farm produces and household property. This rendered some of the people from our community homeless, some lost their incomes as they could not produce farm produce and take to the markets hence losing their income, some of the people from the community were displaced hence moved to higher grounds while others got water borne diseases which is very difficult to treat.
JW foundation worked with various partners to help mitigate the effects of flooding in Nyalenda slums community, the biggest informal settlement within Kisumu city. We gave out food to our people, mobilized resources to shelter those who were displaced and conducted medical camps to the affected people.
The rains have gone down but we are very much prepared to help our people. We still request our friends and partners to come on board. God bless you for having a good heart to help.
