Our visit to Lurale Vocational Training Centre was so successful. We had a wonderful time with the girls and they were all grateful for the huge gift of their lives. Lurale is a unique training centre that is helping teenage mums achieve some skills to become self-reliant and take care of their children in the future.
These girls received their reusable pads with thanks, it was so encouraging to know that some of the girls were wondering how they will go about their periods in the month of February because they didn't have pads. We could tell how happy and grateful they were. They said that having a baby at an early age was a challenge, they didn't know if they would buy a diaper for their babies or if they would actually buy pads for themselves. Surprisingly these are girls who dropped out of school due to early pregnancies and they come from vulnerable families. These stories were so heartbreaking but we were happy that they could smile after receiving this small but important gift.
The campaign is still on and we are still hopeful that we will be able to reach out to 3000 girls in day secondary schools. These are the girls who did well in their exams but they couldn't join boarding schools due to lack of school fees this shows how vulnerable these girls are and this is what is contributing to early pregnancies in our girls. One kit of reusable pads will help a girl have safe and healthy periods for three years.
Our fundraising is going on and we are kindly requesting you to help us meet this goal. Maybe you have already contributed, please share this with your family members, friends, and on social media about this noble cause. Let us join hands and restore our girls' dignity.
