With the generous support of our donors, this program has successfully benefited 10 HIV+ members, providing them with essential healthcare services, mental health support, economic assistance, and educational resources.

The intervention in Western Uganda was crucial in mitigating the adverse effects of the intersection between HIV and COVID-19. Your support has enabled us to directly impact the lives of 10 HIV+ youths, ensuring they receive comprehensive care and support during these challenging times.

Key Achievements:

1. Uninterrupted Healthcare Services:
• Through the establishment of mobile clinics and telemedicine services, all 10 beneficiaries have had consistent access to essential HIV care.
2. Mental Health Support:
• Virtual support groups and counseling services have successfully addressed the mental health concerns of our beneficiaries, providing them with a crucial lifeline during isolation.
3. Economic Assistance:
• Your donations have facilitated financial support programs, helping the 10 beneficiaries navigate economic challenges caused by job losses and economic downturn.
4. Education and Awareness:
• Targeted awareness campaigns have reduced stigma and increased awareness among the community, fostering a supportive environment for our beneficiaries.

• Grace, a 23-year-old living with HIV, found solace and community through virtual support groups, alleviating the anxiety and loneliness she experienced during the pandemic.
2. John’s Economic Recovery:
• John, facing unemployment, received financial assistance, allowing him to maintain a stable livelihood and continue essential HIV treatments.
3. Sarah’s Educational Empowerment:
• Sarah, initially isolated due to stigma, became an advocate in her community after participating in awareness campaigns, contributing to reducing prejudice against HIV+ individuals.

Your support has transformed the lives of 10 HIV+ youths in Western Uganda, providing them with the necessary tools to navigate the challenges posed by the dual pandemics.

We are considering to integrate HIV and mental health interventions and your kind support will impact us reach our goal. 

A mental health intervention can help someone through tragedy, trauma, or through any underlying untreated psychiatric disorder. Ideally, a therapist or intervention specialist of some kind is involved in helping convince someone to get mental health or medical treatment. 

Mental health conditions increase the risk of HIV infection, and people living with HIV have an increased risk of mental health conditions, which are associated with lower retention in HIV care, increased risk behaviours and lower engagement with HIV prevention.

Furthermore, despite an increasing body of evidence showing that effective methods of prevention, screening and diagnosis of, and treatments for, common mental health conditions, including depression and anxiety, exist and can be implemented in low- and middle-income countries, services for mental health, neurological and substance use conditions are often not integrated into packages of essential services and care, including for HIV.
