What is an educational lag?

Hello friends,

The world's students experienced a learning lag when the Covid Pandemic hit. A learning lag occurs when circumstances impact the amount of time dedicated in school, the material covered and the reinforced follow up.

What if a students everyday circumstance is impacted simply because of their proximity to higher education? In the community we serve, San Miguel Viejo, Guanajuato Mexico, circumstance has it, we only have a Kindergarten and an Elementary school.  What if the family cant afford the transportation to enable their child to continue?

In our tutoring program we reinforce their formal academic education as well as introduce some subjects  perhaps not covered in  their formal school. Social justice, the environment, along with many other workshops to name a few.

We are excited and grateful to our committed staff member Gabriela, "Gaby" and a government program that enables young adults and adults alike, to study, prepare and "test out" if you will for Primary, Secondary and High School diplomas. The program is INAEBA which stands for; Institute for Alphabet and Basic Education for Adults.

This is what we do. We help and offer opportunities to overcome "circumstances" that are an everyday part of life in rural Mexico. Please enjoy the photographs with a young man who never received his diploma. He will now!!

Thank you for your continued interest and support,

Best Regards

Betty Lopez
