Help Fundacion A Jean Brugger build a center to serve our students and graduates. We have been providing university scholarships in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua for 18 years. Over 70 young people have graduated, and 40 students currently have scholarships. Our new building will have offices for the staff and a library where students can work on their homework and do research online. A space for student meetings is envisioned, where our scholars can meet to plan their community service projects.
Fundacion A. Jean Brugger has never had its own home; the staff works in cramped offices located on the grounds of a closed resort. There is no place for the monthly student meetings; these are held outdoors; a problem in the rainy season. Soon the Fundacion will be forced to move its offices, and the cost of renting office space is prohibitive.
With this building project, not only will the Fundacion have adequate offices and meeting spaces, but there will be an office and meeting room that can be rented to bring in income, helping to provide a sustainable future for the Fundacion. Nicaragua is a developing country where many families have to make tremendous financial sacrifices to send their children to university. Brilliant students are often denied the chance to become a professional because of poverty and are forced to get a low-paying job to support their families. The scholarships provided by Fundacion allow deserving young people to fulfill their dreams to be a professional, contribute to their family's economy, and help build a more positive future for Nicaragua.
