Violence prevention trainings are taking off in the F Municipality of Montevideo!
The first stage of the project involved carrying out participatory diagnostic research of the situations of violence experienced by children and adolescents. Issues of violence in the school system, as well as exclusion of youth from public spaces were prominent results of the research. Other issues of gender violence and discrimination also became clear throughout the research process.
After the diagnostic phase, we have moved into the training phase. The first two trainings carried out have focused on Promoting Healthy Relationships in Educative Spaces and training youth to lead a public awareness campaign for prevention of violence against children. Local schools, non-profits and government organizations were invited to participate in the training process, then multiply the learnings in their organizations.
In the month of October, several public awareness activities will be carried out in the F Municipality by youth and local organizations. We are looking foward to making an impact on the community for violence prevention.
