This October, over 200 members of the Municipality F community got together to celebrate the actions taken for child protection in the area.
In previous months, adolescents and teachers trained in violence prevention materials, which were then implemented and replicated in their local schools and organizations.
To celebrate these actions, an event was carried out with the slogan "Big changes start small". The activity joined with the "Fair and caring interactions campaign" carried out annually in Uruguay for the past 16 years, which promotes children's welll being and raises awareness about violence against children.
The activity drew the participation of local organizations, schools and authorities. Teens participated through music and dance. A Youth Center music group shared a song that they had written about what it means for them to have a safe space where they can express themselves and count on being treated well.
For the coming year, more violence prevention workshops are in the works, targeted at parents and children for abuse and sexual violence prevention.
