The network of organizations that work with children and teens in the Municipality F of Montevideo continues to build capacity in violence prevention. In the months of July and August, the 16 organizations and 32 educators from the network participated in the course, "Empowering Ourselves through Play".
The course offers tools for the prevention of sexual violence towards children and adolescents. It addresses conceptual aspects of sexual violence, orientation for educators, resilience, sexuality in childhood, protective and risk factors, recreational techniques, as well as the workshop series which is carried out with children and adolescents.
For three days the participants had the opportunity to play, learn and share the situations that they have encountered in their work with the community. Each institution received a toolkit with all the necessary games and materials to be able to carry out the activities with the children and teens that participate in each organization.
Through this course we aim at strengthening the institutions of the network to replicate the workshops in each institution and thus contribute to the prevention and identification situations of sexual violence against children and adolescents.
