Help South African Children with HIV Medication

We sincerely thank those who have already supported the Help South African Children with HIV Medication project. Your support reflects care for children whose lives depend on steady access to HIV treatment.

South Africa carries the highest burden of HIV globally, with about 270,000 children under the age of 14 living with the virus. Recent funding cuts affecting programs such as PEPFAR have led to clinic closures and reduced drug supply in some areas. As a result, many children—especially those living in poor townships and rural communities—are missing treatment or facing interruptions that put their health at serious risk.

This project is designed to provide one full year of HIV medication and follow-up care for 1,000 vulnerable children. Support will cover antiretroviral drugs, routine medical reviews, viral load checks, and basic nutrition support. Community health workers will also visit families to help caregivers keep children on treatment and respond early when challenges arise.

At this time, although donations have been received, the funds available are not enough to kickstart the project. We are therefore appealing for additional support so procurement and delivery of medication can begin.

With adequate funding, this project can help children stay healthy, attend school regularly, and avoid life-threatening complications linked to untreated HIV. Continued treatment also reduces the risk of future transmission and supports long-term public health efforts in South Africa.

Thank you for your concern and kindness toward this project. No donations have been received yet, but we are moving forward with our groundwork. The children who will benefit are already identified through local health partners working in communities affected by HIV.

In South Africa, thousands of children are born with HIV and depend on medication to stay healthy. Sadly, many live in poor areas where clinics are far away or medicine runs out too soon. When treatment is interrupted, their health quickly declines, and they face severe infections that could have been prevented.

This project will provide regular access to antiretroviral drugs, basic nutrition, and health monitoring for children who need consistent care. It will also help caregivers understand the importance of adherence to treatment.
