You Helped Darby!
By Paula Lucas | Founder & Executive Director

Darby has been trying to make her marriage work for years. As a military spouse she didn't want to see her husband lose his job. But the violence just kept getting worse and worse.
She called us from Bahrain asking us what her options are. We worked with Darby over the course of a couple of months. She asked her husband to go to counseling but he refused.
Darby felt she had no option but to flee Bahrain and go back to the USA. Darby is home now and grateful for your support. Here is part of an email she sent.
"I wished things were different. I still care for my husband very much. I hope one day he gets the help he needs."
Thank you for helping Darby!

You helped Troy!

When Troy called us he said he felt embarrased to be calling for help as an abused man in the military. His wife, also a military member, had been verbally abusive for years. He tried to continue to make things work for the sake of their daughter.
Troy didn't know what to do. His wife was now insulting and calling their daughter names. Recently, when his wife became angry she would throw things at thim. She also drank excessively several nights per week which made things worse.
One of our case managers worked with Troy for several months exploring his options. Troy finally told his wife that she either had to agree to anger management counseling and addiction recovery or he would file for divorce and custody of their daughter.
His wife agreed. We don't know yet what the outcome will be for Troy, but because of donors like you, Troy understands what he needs to do to keep himself and his daugher safe.
Thank you for helping stop violence in military families!

Pathways and the military have developed a win-win collaboration over the years. Victims of family violence are able to access services through Pathways and services through the military, offering the best possible outcome for survivors and their children.
This year we have co-case managed more cases with the military then ever before. Our areas of greatest need are train and bus tickets for victims as well as emergency hotel stays for victims to stay safe while we research the best possible, longer term options to escape violence.
We created two microprojects to help victims in 2019 with these basic needs.
https://www.globalgiving.org/microprojects/emergency-hotel-rooms-for-victims-escaping-violenc/

We hope you will consider donating to these projects this giving season.
Thank you for all you do to help victims of military family violence!
