The severity of floods rains in Pakistan has left millions without homes, food or medical support. To play our part in the relief efforts, SHINE Humanity is arranging medical relief camps in Sindh province, for the flood-affected population. Through these medical interventions, we will be providing consultations, medicines and water purification tablets.
The people of Pakistan are experiencing one of the worst flood disasters in their history, where lives of entire communities have been uprooted, homes washed away by raging waters, and crops destroyed, effectively ending the livelihoods of millions. The worst impact, however, has been on the health of these people. With water covering 1/3rd of the country, water-borne diseases, including gastro and skin illnesses, snake and animal bites, and malnutrition, are now widely prevalent.
Rural Sindh province is one of the worst affected and is also the area where SHINE Humanity has been running primary healthcare projects since 2013. In response to this calamity, SHINE is holding multiple flood relief camps where the need is the greatest so that flood-affected people can get proper treatment and have access to much needed medications. The need is much bigger than our current resources. Please help us in our efforts to mitigate their suffering as much as possible.
Our aim is to decrease the maternal and infant mortality rate, along with the prevalence and burden of communicable diseases in the areas. We will also be assessing different health indicators and providing clean drinking and hygiene water, antenatal care, and counselling on the prevention of different diseases and rehabilitation in the affected areas.
