Due to the serious economic crisis in Venezuela, high cost treatments such as Vincristine are only available in foreign currency, therefore, we are asking for your help in order to be able to afford them and help stop the massive spread of CTVT (cancerous tumours) in abandoned dogs. We want to continue helping dogs in Venezuela, by curing infected dogs and preventing new ones from being infected and dying from this disease.
Canine transmissible venereal tumor, also known as Sticker's sarcoma or CTVT, is a contagious tumor that commonly occurs in dogs transmitted mainly through sex, at the time of mounting. This type of tumor is very common in our country where the population of street dog colonies is very high. It is observed more frequently in stray dogs or with street habits. Du to the scarcity and high costs, we are unable to purchase vincristine to treat hundreds of animals that need it.
The fastest and least expensive solution to minimize the problem is to directly treat dogs with injected Vincristine sessions to stop, eradicate cancer and then be neutered by our organization. Depending on the case, a weekly session of subcutaneously Vincristine is required for 4 weeks, until clinically the TVT is no longer appreciated. (Approx. 1/2 ampule per medium sized dog)
With these funds we will be extending the help and stooping the spread to dozens of abandoned animales in cities like Caracas, Cumana and Maracaibo that are currently under our indirect care, as we will also be able to Spay & neuter them after fully recovery.
