Yachana Foundation needs your help to build an Outpatient Clinic and Laboratory in the heart of the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest. The clinic will provide accessible healthcare and services to the ~10,000 locals living around the Yachana Foundation region. The Outpatient Clinic will provide: emergency care, gynecology, dental and medication. A clinical laboratory will be available for studies of tropical diseases. Thank you for considering to donate!
The Amazon region of Ecuador is remote. The few roads are gravel which is hard on vehicles and limits mobility. There is limited public transportation and time to travel to a provincial capital is from 3 to 5 hours. The majority of the population lives on less than $3 per day. Available public medical or laboratory attention is only found in the capitals. Because of time and financial constraints, people living in these remote areas just don't get the accessible healthcare they need.
The Yachana Foundation, working with the Ecuadorian Ministry of Health, is building an outpatient clinic and a complete clinical and investigation laboratory for the study of tropical diseases. The facility is being built on Yachana Foundation land, more or less in-between two provincial capitals that are hours away. Besides the medical facility there is housing and restaurant facilities for the medical personnel. This will bring much needed medical attention to the ~10,000 in the region.
The facility will serve ~10,000 people with medical attention from injuries, illness & snake bites. In addition, due to global warming, tropical diseases are moving north, requiring more investigation into these diseases via the Laboratory. Medically, approximately 20% of the children up to five years suffer from malnutrition, commonly due to parasites that is easy to solve with medical attention. Having a accessible medical facility in our remote area will provide a lifeline to people in need.
