War will have a devastating impact for children and families across Eastern Europe economically, practically and emotionally. Over 3,200 vulnerable children will be given hope, opportunity and security with initiatives to prevent family breakdown, support the abandonment, transform lives of those affected by disability and offer firm foundations for those severely impacted by war and living in precarious conditions.
War, conflict, mis-management, corruption, political instability. Across Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine these are resulting in the lives of refugees, orphaned or abandoned children, those in poverty-stricken families or those with learning and physical difficulties, being under constant strain. Even without war the opportunities for care and support were limited. Their crises and their fears, will now be deeper and wider than ever before
3,200 children and young people plus families will have access to transformative programmes to enable them to live as well and as safely as possible. Achieved through: security, love and care for the abandoned and for refugees; free to use multi-disciplinary therapies for children with disabilities; places of refuge for children in vulnerable families; extra-curricular educational support; residential foster homes for orphans; social welfare and material aid for the most vulnerable families
Overcoming Barriers. Creating Firm Foundations. Creating a Fairer Society. These goals address the individual, community, social and cultural pressures weighing down 3,200 lives. War will substantially set back progress made in already challenging economic and cultural contexts. However, achieving the goals will create firm foundations and help change attitudes, government policy and funding of programmes that will bring change to the lives of some of the most vulnerable children
