RUWAI works to support many marginalized and low-income rural families impacted by climate change and poverty, helping them develop livelihoods resilience to build and bounce back better. During the peak of Covid, six-year-old Ugo Uzor lost her house to a cooking fire. She was severely burned along with her mother. RUWAI provided for their medical expenses and began reconstruction of the Uzor's home. With your help, we will complete the construction of their house, and equip it.
The Uzor family is unique in the fact that both parents cannot hear nor speak. In a difficult time such as they are having, these disabilities present an even more challenging situation with the loss of their home. For the time being, the family is housed in one room of their neighbours home. The recent unrest in their region and the COVID-19 pandemic is increasing the trauma this family and many homeless people face.
With their home rebuilt, the Uzors will focus on dedicating their time and resources to meeting their family's other basic needs. We want to get this family back into their own home and have proper living conditions.
With a roof over their heads and a house they can call their home, the Uzor family will be able to provide safety, security, and comfort to their children as they grow up, and isn't that what we all want for our families.
