Summary

It is a humanitarian tragedy: More than 20 million children, women and men in Yemen are in urgent need of help. A violent war has been raging in the country since 2015. People's lives are characterized by great fear and despair, hunger and disease. Millions of people don't know where they will get the next meal for their families. There is a lack of access to clean drinking water and medical care. Only every second hospital is even functional.

Challenge

Heavy fighting has been raging in Yemen since 2015. The civilian population is particularly affected. Hundreds of thousands of people are on the run within the country. More than 18 million people are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance, including 11.1 million children. In total, that's more than half of the population. As a result of the corona pandemic and the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, the economic situation has further deteriorated. Five million people are acutely malnourished.

Solution

Eleven alliance organizations from Aktion Deutschland Hilft have employees on site to care for the children, women and men. They work closely with local partner organizations. These challenges include building a stable, resilient healthcare system, to improve education for boys and girls, and to stabilize hospitals and rehabilitation centers.

Long-Term Impact

Alleviate the suffering and continue to support children, women and men. And that for as long as it is necessary.
