José is a horticultural producer who works alongside his wife and three children in their family garden—an activity that not only supports the household economy, but also strengthens their family bonds. Through the training received as part of the Agroecological Gardens in Schools in Argentina project, he began using the Kokue app as a key tool to organize and monitor their productive work.
At first, adopting technology was a challenge. José is an older adult and was not familiar with using digital applications. Faced with this situation, his youngest son, Daniel, took on a fundamental role by supporting him in using the app and taking charge of monitoring the garden. In this way, technology became an opportunity to strengthen teamwork and intergenerational family ties.
The family produces food throughout the year, applying agroecological and healthy production practices. Thanks to the garden, they are able to cover part of their household expenses, such as dairy products and other essential foods for their daily diet. In addition, they sell their produce independently, delivering it by motorcycle with a small cart, as they live far from the urban center.
José shares that he has always worked with gardens, although in the past he did so on a much smaller scale. Based on the guidance provided by the app—such as crop association and producing their own seeds—he decided to expand his garden. This growth allowed him to improve production, increase benefits, and begin selling surplus produce.
For José, the garden is more than a source of income: it is a space for family connection, shared learning, and collective growth, where the land and joint effort bear fruit every day.
