Graduation night for MenTe en Accion!
Graduation night for MenTe en Accion!

[ENGLISH below]

These have been a few exciting months with Ideas en Acción taking our projects to the next level with the support given through our first campaign.

We finished our fist edition for the MenTe en Acción program to involve more young women in the STEM field. Even though the 12-week program is over, our follow up with them has shown the compromise and genuine interest they gained in these fields as a result of the program. Here are some of the follow up activities and results:

  1. 5 MenTes assisted Campus Party Costa Rica and one of them won the Iron Geek competition!
  2. A team of 4 MenTes participated and won the Hardwarethon national competition!
  3. Over 28 participants have assisted follow up trainning in robotics.
  4. 2 MenTes received a scholarship to attend the Grace Hopper Conference representing Costa Rica.
  5. One of our MenTes was selected to represent Latin America at the  Mars Desert Research Station en Utah.

These are just a few of the accomplishments of these inspiring young women that were part of our pilot program Now we're taking our edition of the program to Limón for its first edition in a rural area. We will do this with the support of the USA Embassy. Additionally we are having conversations to take the program to Monterrey, Mexico. Exciting collaborations without a doubt!

Impulsando emprendedores, our program focused on supporting entrepreneurs through mentorships with IBM is about to begin with the second edition, mixing entreprenuers in diferent development phases and topics to bring them to the next level.

With Duolingo en Acción, we're proud to say we are also continuing to take English learning through technology, to the next level in Costa Rica. We are preparing to begin our work in a Technical School in Santa Ana, as well as starting our project with the beneficiaries of Lifting Hands, an organization that works with children with after school tutoring.

We are more than excited about everything that is coming up. We really want to thank EVERYONE that has supported us, as a volunteer or through a donation. Thank you for supporting collaborative innovation through Ideas en Acción!
