Ifarantsa Upper Secondary School Project

We are excited to share that the construction of a fully furnished three-classroom school building will begin at Ifarantsa Upper Secondary School in October 2026. This construction will allow for the 144 existing students to attend full-day classes in a safe and healthy environment conducive to learning, whilst also accommodating for future growth of the school, with an additional 150 student spaces. This expansion will allow the school to broaden its range of specialisations, enabling students to pursue courses in their chosen areas and prevent them from travelling to more distant schools to enrol in these courses.

To support teacher livelihood and ensure they are able to access the school throughout the year, accommodation will also be constructed at the school. As the path to the school is often difficult to traverse, particularly during the rainy season, providing accommodation will improve teachers' capacity to attend school regularly.

To ensure safe water and sanitation facilities, a10,000-litre capacity rainwater harvesting systemwill be installed, providing clean drinking water for the school as well as the wider community. An additional latrine block with three cubicles will also be constructed to support the school’s growing population, allowing for gender-segregation. These facilities will be complimented with an education programme to encourage the students use of facilities and promote positive hygiene practices.
