UPC in the proposed project will carry out advocacy for inclusive budgeting for inclusion of sports for persons with disabilities (PWDs) at local government level, increment of funding from central government, amendments of the National Physical Education Policy & the National Sports Policy aimed at increasing participation of PWDs in sports. Project location shall be Lowero, Wakiso, Kampala, Abim, Kotido, Moroto, Amurata, Kapucholwa, Sironko, Mbale, Bulambuli, Kabarore, Kyegegwa and Hoima
Sport as a universal language can be a powerful tool to promote people's rights, peace and development, tolerance and understanding by bringing people together. It is also a tool for education, cooperation, solidarity, social inclusion and health an effective approach to foster social change. Despite this, many persons with disabilities in Uganda miss out on participation thereby missing the many benefits of sports and this justifies this proposed project to address the gaps.
In order to address the issues the project will use advocacy approach by organizing advocacy meetings with District Local Government political and technical leaders in the 15 project district, line ministries in charge of sports, parliamentary committees, speaker of parliament among others
Increased percentage of financial support from the government and to ensure that amendments of National Physical Education and Sports Policy and the National Sports Policy are inclusive which transforms into having inclusive physical education and National Primary School Championships and well as media coverage improvement on disability sports.
