Catherine a resident of Mutulani and a beneficiary of the Mutulani Primary School water Tank through her son in class 5 appreciated Global giving through Poverty Eradication Network for the support extended to their community through the school and Kyanduu Earth Dam which is their main water source in the area. “We have been supported to construct an earth dam which has been controlling silt in our earth dam. We have been able to construct two sand dams through our own initiatives and now can carry out conservation activities like tree planting which in return will be bringing income to our households”

Strengthened community thereafter

Mutulani community has grown strong since the inception of the GlobalGiving project in their area. The capacity building aspect within the project implementation has enabled them to see the sense of taking up the development agenda on their own in their area.
The community members through MAWE group have been mobilizing resources from within the stakeholders to undertake development projects. So far two sand dams have constructed along Kyanduu earth dam which is the community’s main water source. Another sand dam is to be constructed by end of May 2015. The community has mobilized Bursary funds collectively to help the bright and deserving children from the area to access education. Mr. Joseph Mbithi the MAWE secretary reported that plans are underway in mobilization of resources from government devolved funds to construct a health facility within their area to promote access to health care by the people. He attributes these initiatives with a strong community which is now able to sustain development in their area and appreciated the GlobalGiving for the continued support to their community.

The schools have resumed back from the December holiday. Mutulani primary school pupils and their teachers are celebrating after finding their water tank donated through the global giving initiative full of clean rain water. Children come with their bottles to draw water from the water tank to prevent wastage as well as promoting hygiene.
Mutulani community through MAWE Community Based Organisation (CBO) has embarked on protecting their main water source from silting through construction of sand dams along its major water inlet.
During the December holiday, the community managed to construct a smaller check dam as they waited for a major one to be constructed through the community and global giving resources. So far, materials from the local donors have been paid awaiting the global giving contribution. This project will ensure increase of the water quantity in Kyanduu earth dam to supply the Mutulani Community.
