By Mary Mutuku | Project Officer
It is my pleasure to present our project progress report for the 3rd quarter (July-September 2018). The project; provide safe and clean water for 1500 children and women, is aimed at improving water supply to Mutulani community, in Makueni County, Kenya
This project period was characterized by a number of programs which include the closing of schools for second term and opening for third term, harvesting long term agricultural produce after adequate amount of rainfall and community activities that were done towards public benefit in Mutulani community which include community forums to discuss their areas development
Discussions with a number of development partners including the County government of Makueni are still on towards acquiring a permanent solution to water issues in Mutulani. The community is hopeful that in a few years time, Mutulani community shall be a model area where neighboring communities shall be coming to learn ways to achieve and sustain development
PEN and the Mutulani community appreciate the partnership with M-Changa that has enabled donating to projects locally through Mobile (M-Pesa). This has increased the number of local donors and improved the culture of giving locally. This was evident during this year’s GG Rewards Bonus Day in July 18 where the highest numbers of local donors were recorded in a day since the initiation of this project. This culture of local giving is being appreciated slowly. PEN and the project Committee are doing sensitization to reaching more people
This project shall be phased out in the near future to put efforts in the new project “Giving children a change to grow and learn” which is looking at extending support to the neighboring communities as well as sustaining the available water in Mutulani Kindly follow the link to the new project: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/giving-children-a-chance-to-learn-and-grow/
PEN and the community is once again grateful to all the donors of this project which transformed the lives of the people through water access. Thank you.
