Provide clean & safe water for 1500 women&children

A new journey just began for the project titled “Provide safe and clean water for 1500 children and women” aimed at improving water supply and sustaining it to serve the Mutulani community in Makueni County, Kenya.

During this reporting period, August 2025 - October 2025, PEN Kenya managed to install the pre-paid Smart Meters to all the three Mutulani community institutions regulating supply of water from the Mutulani community water project (Borehole). The institutions include Mutulani Primary School, Mutulani Secondary school and the Mutulani Community Dispensary. Additionally, a bulk meter was installed at the borehole with the aim of monitoring the amount of water flowing from the borehole and linking it to the water usage in the 3 institutions. This process will not only act as an accountability tool but play a critical role in a long-term sustainability plan for the water users as agreed jointly by all the Water Users

 This is a celebrated milestone towards enabling the three institutions to embrace technology and with an assurance that the management committee will sustain the project in case of any breakdown. All payments will be directed to the bank for safety of the project resources. To enhance the project success, checks and balances, the Mutulani Chief who is the local administrator in charge of security, PEN Kenya, the Mutulani Project Management Committee and MAWE CBO have been incorporated to be monitoring keenly of the progress digitally.
