Challenge

Most households in these poor communities earn income from daily labor Due to COVID-19 the vulnerability of children and families has escalated in terms of getting sufficient income for food, and contracting the infection, as protective materials are inaccessible. School children in these communities are also not in a position to follow educational programs broadcasted. Most suffer from persistent depression and frustration from discontinuation of school and a long stay at home.

Solution

The project shall tackle the problem through the protection of the poor children and families from COVID-19 infection while ensuring the availability of adequate food in the family and avoid depression. Food item distribution and disinfectants including facemasks are deemed to keep poor children and families safe. While home-based educational mentorship, motivation, and counseling services shall enable children to be attentive to their education, and be forward-looking.

Long-Term Impact

The project primarily shall save and ensure the well-being of 120 direct and more than 350 indirect poor household beneficiaries, from COVID-19 infection and its adverse health effects. It also enables poor families to survive during this pandemic, who are extremely vulnerable due to their poor living conditions. Second, it uplifts the spirits and aspirations of 120 school children to keep educational pace from home and being successful, through close consultations and mentorship.
