World soil day celebrates the importance of soil as a critical component
of natural system and as a vital contributor to human common wealth
through its contribution to food and water and also in reducing climatic
change.
It is high time that this day should be known to more people than scientists
concerned about the welfare of our planet. An enormous damage is done to
our planet due to ignorance. So educating all, especially our children, since
they are the future citizen of our country is important. Keeping this in mind,
the World soil day was celebrated by the Cuddalore school.
As a part of the event, Senior Science teacher Ramalingam spoke in
detail about the significance of this occasion and the need for protecting
our soil. A drawing competition was also conducted for the children with
the theme being ‘World Soil Day’.
The teachers shared: ‘We are very happy to see how our children are
concerned about our planet which was seen in their drawing. Prizes were
also given for the top drawings. We also arranged for a field trip for the
children and they were made to identify different types of soils under the
guidance of their teachers. Last but not the least celebrating this day
created an awareness among our children about the need for protecting
our soil.’
