This project aims to provide urgent assistance to the community of 9 de Julio, Province of Buenos Aires, which was severely impacted by a destructive storm. Some peoples lives were changed forever after watching their houses completely fall to the ground. By supporting the rebuilding efforts and providing essential resources, the project seeks to help affected families regain stability and dignity, rebuilding their homes and lives.
The severe damage caused by the storm, including the destruction of hundreds of homes, infrastructure, trees, electrical, TV, and telephone lines, and 35,000 hectares of crops, left over 250 families in desperate need of assistance. Over 85 family homes in the most affected neighborhood were either damaged or completely demolished. The catastrophe included 53 millimeters of rain in 15 minutes, accompanied by strong gusts of wind reaching up to 150 kilometers per hour, along with hail.
As of today, volunteers continue to assist in the recovery of homes. Although the needs of 39 households have been addressed, resources are still lacking for 46 others. Mainly, construction materials such as bricks, cement, sand, iron, doors, glass, among others, are needed. By providing resources and assistance, the project seeks to enable affected families to rebuild their homes and communities, restoring stability and hope in the wake of the disaster.
The project has the potential to make the town more resilient to future storms. By rebuilding houses with better materials and construction techniques, the community can better withstand similar natural disasters in the future, reducing the risk of extensive damage and displacement. Additionally, by preventing affected families from falling into homelessness and providing them with secure housing, the project contributes to the overall stability and well-being of the community.
