The project, situated in Imzouren, provides training workshops to 40 single mothers from poor areas in Northern Morocco in order to enable them to find a job or an income generating activity and assure their children welfare (100 children). We give non formal education classes and literacy tuition going with cooking, hair dressing or dressmaking trainings. This program aim at avoiding children abandonment and children exploitation.
Single mothers' situation in Morocco, especially in poor areas, is very difficult because the society rejects and excludes them. Poverty and exclusion of single mothers are the main causes of children's rights violation: children's abandonment, children's exploitation, removal from school. Northern region of Morocco, where the program is running, is one of the poorest in the country: the literacy rate and employment rates are low compare to other regions. These 100 children need help.
In this project, we give 10 month training in cooking, hair dressing or dressmaking with non-formal education classes and literacy tuition to 40 single mothers. In the meantime we also ensure health check-up, school fees and meals for the children (100 children) and their mothers. We also provide them with monthly package containing hygienic products, baby milk and basic food .Thanks to this program children's rights are insured, and single mothers can find jobs or develop their own business.
Education is a mean to break the cycle of marginalization, poverty, violence and family breakdown and it helps children to develop the necessary capabilities they need to life in dignity and with respect. Education empowers women with the knowledge, skills and self-confidence necessary to find jobs and ensure their children's basic needs. Education is also essential for these children to grow up and become trained and efficient adults who won't have any integration problems.
