After the earthquake disaster occurred in the eastern side of Turkey, TEV focused on the work of the first response to the disaster. The Foundation coordinated with the Disaster Platform Association of Turkey for search & rescue volunteering. It kept WhatsApp and SMS hotline and phone calls to grantees available. First, the Foundation aimed to give additional support to young people who are already grantees of TEV. As a result, additional financial support was provided to its current grantees studying in the earthquake-affected region. In addition, 1.200 students - who have lost a parent or parents and/or a sibling, were provided scholarships.
The Foundation continues to support students by providing regular financial aid. The funds raised for the Keep Them in Scholarship Fund are vital to sustaining this effort. In line with its commitment, the Foundation seeks individual and organizational donors, who would like to contribute to the Fund.
Turkish Education Foundation has completed the evaluation process of scholarship applications for the 2024-2025 academic year. A total of 20.039 students have been awarded scholarships, with 24.2% of them (4.846) being affected by the earthquake.
