After the earthquake disaster occurred in the eastern side of Turkey, TEV focused on the work of the first response to the disaster. The Foundation coordinated with the Disaster Platform Association of Turkey for search & rescue volunteering. It kept WhatsApp and SMS hotline and phone calls to grantees available. First, the Foundation aimed to give additional support to young people who are already grantees of TEV. As a result, additional financial support was provided to its current grantees studying in the earthquake-affected region. In addition, 1.200 students - who have lost a parent or parents and/or a sibling, were provided scholarships.
Starting with the 2023-2024 academic year, the Foundation has been supporting students through regular financial aid. The funds raised for the Keep Them in Scholarship Fund are vital to sustaining this effort. In line with its commitment, the Foundation seeks individual and organizational donors, who would like to contribute to the Fund.
In the last academic year, Turkish Education Foundation awarded scholarship 20.000 students in total - 1 out of every 4 of whom had been affected by the earthquake, and will continue this support in the 2025-2026 academic year.
Thanks to your ongoing valuable support, we will continue to support students affected by the earthquake until they complete their academic journey.
Best regards.
