Getting clean water to every public school, orphanage, children's hospital and shelter in Kolkata is a wild idea. Thanks to the generous support of caring people like you, Splash is making this dream a reality. Over 26,600 children in India are drinking clean, safe water today and we won't stop until we reach our goal of 750,000 kids.
We understand that just providing clean water is not enough. Children have to be taught behaviors that help sustain healthy lifestyles. This is why Splash is committed to providing quality, fun health and hygiene education along with our filtration systems. The combination of behavioral change work and clean water is paying off as more children become aware of the importance of handwashing and take that education further into their communities.
Sr. Kartick Chandra Manna, the chairman of Sarva Shiksha Mission (SSM) in Kolkata, is one of Splash's partners in India. He says that "We see this as a beginning of a long term partnership towards ensuring the basic rights of children in accessing safe drinking water, proper sanitation and better hygiene practices. The Splash input will strengthen the efforts of the Sarva Shiksha Mission in providing clean drinking water, proper sanitation and a child friendly environment at schools as mandated through the Right to Education Act."
