May 14th, 2026 marked a precedent-setting moment in Canada.
Ontario has passed landmark legislation through Bill 75 to ban invasive scientific research and experiments on pet cats and dogs.
One province - ONE BEAGLE AT A TIME, we are making change!
For those of us who have looked into the eyes of former research dogs, this is deeply personal.
From fear to first tail wags, from LAB to LOVE, these dogs have shown us their freedom is worth every hard day.
There is still work to do.
Province by province, law by law, we continue fighting FOR THE ANIMALS.
In the meantime, we have some events that you will not want to miss:
FREE VIRTUAL TOWN HALLS: Links to register: https://thebeaglealliance.org/town-halls/
Tuesday, May 26th at 7:30 pm Central Support and Resources for People caring for the dogs out of Ridglan Farms: This will not be recorded for reasons of privacy.
Hosted by Lori Cohen – The Beagle Alliance, John Ramer – Kindness Ranch, and Chelsey Marino – Keeper and Kin, this special evening is designed for anyone fostering, adopting, or even considering welcoming a former research dog from Ridglan Farms into their home AND of for the incredible organizations who are facilitating this journey.
We know that so many have the best of intentions and may feel a bit lost with some dogs who are a little more challenging than expected – a little more shutdown, anxious, or simply not behaving in ways you expected.
WE GOT YOU!
Wednesday, May 27th at 7:00 pm Galgo Dogs out of Spain with SPCA International
IMAGINE a remarkable trip to Spain to advocate for, and rescue innocent galgos (Spanish Greyhounds), discarded after the hunting season.
SPCA International's Lori Kalef, Director of Programs, Katie Raab, Advocacy & Events Campaign Coordinator, and Owen Laukkanen, Programs Associate will share their journey and participation in a peaceful demonstration in Barcelona, a conversation with the mayor of Calatorao, and a guided tour by a galgo rescuer!
More to come: 25 rescued galgos, personal stories, and teaching children about compassion for animals.
SEE YOU THERE!
