Challenge

The wildfires that blew through the historic town of Lahaina on the island of Maui resulted in one of the greatest losses of life due to fire in U.S. history. Damage to over 2,200 residential and commercial properties over 2,170 acres has resulted in thousands of survivors becoming instantly homeless. The fire is 85% contained. Nonprofit and government services from housing, medical, behavioral, legal, and feeding are all underway.

Solution

Good360 is choosing to work proactively with partners on projects to aid responders and survivors. This includes a logistical cohort with LIFT Nonprofit Logistics, ALAN Aid, Airlink, Maersk, The UPS Foundation, and others. Setting up shared warehouse space to receive, sort, and ship items requested and designated for Maui. This includes an Aloha Kit to help survivors get through the weeks ahead - kitchenware, household items, bedding. Also, a Volunteer Fire Safety Kit with appropriate PPE.

Long-Term Impact

These tragic wildfires on Maui are resulting in an understandable outpouring of support across the globe. There are effective ways you can help. Good360 is actively sharing messaging around Resilient Response, helping to educate companies, consumers, and leaders. At the same time, we are working with Hawai'i Emergency Management Agency, Maui Officials, and FEMA Region IX to manage product donations being requested and offered to help survivors and responding agencies.
