There are several Wazee that are long-term residents of the Langoni Old People’s Home and will be there for many years to come. Within those years, we want to give them the best life possible and which means we want them to be able to move around to socialize and participate in activities. But many of the residents are unable to do so because they are unable to easily get out of bed and up and around the Langoni home.
There’s a solution to this problem, a happy ending, and it’s all thanks to you.
In April of this year, something very exciting happened for the Wazee in the Langoni Old People’s Home: the first physiotherapy session for the residents!
During this session, Shedrack, our physiotherapist not only worked with the residents on mobility but also distributed 5 walkers/walking frames to the Wazee living at Langoni. This new development is really exciting for the residents who can’t wait to have more mobility and get around to better socialize with their fellow residents.
Since April, Shedrack has visited the resident's once every single month, helping the residents with their mobility. Shedrack has now offered more of his time and we are excited to announce he will be supporting the residents twice a month! We have distributed walking frames to every single resident who needed one and our next goal is to provide wheelchairs. Shedrack will be working on lifting and moving this upcoming month and we are excited to see the residents' progress.
Finally, last month, a UK doctor working at a local Tanzanian hospital, had the chance to do two workshops with Langoni's staff to train them around mental health, depression, grieving and much more. The staff were so thrilled for this training and cannot wait for another training opportunity!
We are still pushing to achieve our fundraising goal with only $2,000 more to go!
We are so grateful to have been able to start this wonderful project and provide such a necessary service to our wonderful Wazee and it couldn’t have been done without you.
Thank you for your continued support. Our residents couldn’t be more thankful.
