A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported Langoni Old People's Home in Moshi, Tanzania!
We are happy to report that a physiotherapist is still working with the Wazee two times a month, and a UK doctor working at a local hospital is busy planning more training sessions with the staff at Langoni Old People's Home since his first two were such a success. The sessions cover topics such as depression and mental health to ensure that the Wazee are supported not only physically, but mentally as well. We have purchased more walking frames and are in the process of buying wheelchairs for those in need!
Meet Mr. James Joseph (aka Mr. Teacher): He is originally from the southern-central part of Tanzania and is a retired biology teacher. He was ill and sadly had no family left, but he is doing very well now that he is at Langoni and doing exercises and getting treatment for high-blood pressure. He is the Chairperson of the Wazee so if any important people come to visit it is his responsibility to speak on behalf of the other Wazee!
Meet Elizabeth: She is the oldest resident at Langoni at 107 years old! She spends most of her time in her room with her roommate, Lucy, as she has issues walking, but she loves spending time with the African Impact volunteers and getting her nails painted. She'll insist you sit down next to her and have a cuddle as if you are one of her many children.
Your support creates a better quality of life for the Wazee of Langoni, like Elizabeth and Mr. James Joseph.
This project is less than $1,000 away from being fully funded and we have already seen the incredible impact it has had on the Wazee and their community because of you!
Thank you!
