This project supports the USAP Community School which launched with 45 Lower Sixth (11th grade) students in Zimbabwe in January 2020. This unique residential A Level school educates high-achieving, low-income Zimbabwean students to excel at the world's top universities and return home to build society. Seeking the brightest students from underserved communities in Zimbabwe, the Quaker school teaches Cambridge Science A levels, critical thinking, research methods, computer literacy and Humanities.
Although talent is not dependent on one's economic status, access to educational opportunity is. As the chasm between rich and poor widens in Zimbabwe, there are bright, determined students in all corners of the country who simply lack access to a transformative, quality education that teaches skills and ethics in addition to exam-based content.
The USAP community school teaches as much through the curriculum it offers as through the principles it is run by, values of integrity, equality, service and curiosity. Students benefit from a holistic education aimed at developing critical thinking, communication, research and analytical skills and computer literacy. The school promotes environmental consciousness and sustainable living, offering a holistic education that includes project-based learning, arts and community service engagement.
By developing a generation of highly skilled youth who are dedicated to serving their communities and country, the USAP Community School will make an impactful contribution to future of Zimbabwe. It is our vision to develop a generation of dynamic young leaders who are consistently committed to using their education to address challenges in their communities and to build a better Zimbabwe.
