At USAP Community School we aim to provide our students with a holistic and transformative education to cultivate future leaders who are ethical, skilled and empowered to make an impact. Second term was no short of the various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities where our students exhibited their brilliance.
Early in the term, the 2024 Africa Day celebration was the first event to be held at USAP Community School’s new campus in Marondera. The commemorations were a vibrant and culturally rich event that brought together students, staff, and alumni to commemorate the diversity and heritage of the African continent. The day was filled with a variety of exciting activities that showcased the talents and creativity of the students, ranging from modeling and dance performances to poetry and musical showcases.
Throughout the term our students continued to engage actively in a variety of extracurricular events that enhance their skills, confidence, and teamwork and underline our school value of CURIOSITY. USAPCS students participated in an inter schools chess tournament held at Gateway High School, showcasing impressive strategic skills and competitive spirit. A select group of four USAP students took part as delegates at ChiMUN, the Model United Nations Conference at Chisipite Senior School. The Archery team took part in the inter-schools tournament coordinated by the Zimbabwe Association and a group of 20 USAP students participated as finalists in the Africa Science Buskers Festival held at Celebration Centre, where they won seven awards.
As our students strive for excellence, some have been invited to incredible global opportunities. This past term two students had full scholarships to participate in the Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) program, one is currently at Oxford University as a Rise winner and another is in South Africa representing Zimbabwe in the Pan-African Mathematics Olympiad.
One of the goals of our robust and diverse extracurricular program is to teach students to strive for excellence through hard work, collaboration and positive risk taking with a focus on character development, empathy and future contribution to Africa. We are proud to see our students engaged fully both inside and outside of the classroom more so this past term.
