People helping people is at the core of what we do

We would like to thank everyone who is helping in various ways to support the wide variety of activities taking place within the Learning Center Program. Recently recognized was Doña Angelica, who has been volunteering as a Learning Center coordinator in Nicaragua for over 30 years, offering classes such as sewing, cooking, beauty, embroidery and carpentry to over 2,000 students.  Both the financial and in-kind contributions are how the program is able to grow and continue.

Another great option and example are the volunteers from Fort Atkinson, WI who are helping to purchase cooking and baking supplies that the ladies at the Puerto Cabezas Learning Center need for their baking classes.  By making the purchases in-country, it's helping to support the local economy plus get the items where they are needed most in a more timely manner.

Having volunteers help gather items including tables and chairs that are needed for classes at the Learning Centers in Nicaragua is a huge and important help too. It takes many people working together to make the Learning Center Project possible.

We recently received this comment from a Wisconsin volunteer who has been involved for eight years with Wisconsin/Nicaragua Partners, "I have seen the many hands-on opportunities to help give people, and especially women and children, training that they can use to become more self-sufficient and help others become more self-sufficient."
