This project will build and complete our primary seven classroom, furnish our other classrooms and possibly sponsor a few more children to stay in school. Yes and Amen Education Centre's vision is to give as many children as possible the opportunity be in school and with this funding the children of Nsavu village will be able to acquire an education under a properly roofed classroom with a good learning environment.
There are currently a significant number of orphaned and vulnerable children in the village of Nsavu. The looming poverty amongst the population to the extent that guardians cannot afford to provide basic needs like food, health, education etc. The community is highly illiterate, like any other rural setting, where people do not see the value of having an education, let alone pay for one. YAEC has provided a subsidized to free education for this community and the children have been responsive.
Currently we have very few classrooms(6) and the ones available are small in size. This project will help build and furnish our upper classrooms of Primary six and seven. Upon completion, our school will become eligible for accreditation at the national examination board of Uganda. Meaning our primary six students at the end of the school year, they can then advance to primary seven at the same school. This will improve our retention and also increase on the number of children at all intakes.
Our long term goal is to have atleast 350 - 400 children total, with enough resources to give each one of them a free education, with a boarding section, this helps them stay focused in school all term, under good learning conditions and empower each child with the skills that are needed in the market place. Our vision is to also have a vocational training centre for the older children where we can equip each child with skills that they can use in the market place and earn a living.
