Dear Donor,

For the 2025–2026 academic year, a total of 9,648 high school students are receiving scholarships through CYDD. Of these, 6,334 students are supported through the CYDD General Headquarters scholarship quota, while 3,314 students receive scholarships funded by our local branches.

In addition to financial support, our high school students benefit from the free online “Young Starfish” program, where 21st-century skills and competencies are taught through interactive courses. This year, 366 students participated in the program, the majority of whom were 9th-grade students (187 students). Among them, 87 students required technological support in order to participate fully; these students were provided with laptop computers and internet access.

Over the past year, 933 high school scholarship recipients—supported through both the General Headquarters and branch quotas—were admitted to universities and continued to receive scholarships under the “You Can Light a Candle Too” project. This figure represents approximately 60% of all female high school graduates, a remarkable achievement that fills us with great pride. In total, 1,625 students graduated from high school in the 2024–2025 academic year.

YOUNGSTARFISH PROGRAM FOR CYDD HIGHSCHOOL STUDENTs

Young Starfish program requires laptop computers

Dear donor,

ÇYDD not only provides scholarships to high school students but also implements a variety of programs aimed at their development. Today, we would like to introduce the Young Starfish Project, first launched in 2021. The Young Starfish Project aims to reduce inequality of opportunity in education and to ensure that all students have access to a modern education under equal conditions. The objective is for students to acquire 21st-century competencies and skills.

The target audience of the Young Starfish Project consists of high school students who are scholarship recipients of the Çagdas Yasam Destekleme Dernegi. This year 358 students from 9-10-11 th grades took part in the program. The program is run online by 54 CYDD branches and a program lead in CYDD Headquarters. Notebook computers are also given to participating students if they already

The program is carried out online interactively by volunteers competent in their fields and in modules designed separately for each grade level. Trainings are offered under four main areas with various modules:

• 21st Century Themes
• Learning and Innovation Skills
• Information, Media, and Technology Skills
• Life and Career Skills

Some of these modules are Digital Literacy and Coding (9th Grade), Philosophy and Scientific Thinking Methods (9th Grade), Planning and Time Management (10th Grade), Communication Skills 101 (10th Grade), Analytical Thinking (10th Grade), Critical Thinking and Problem Solving (11th Grade), Change Management (11th Grade), Creativity and Innovation (11th Grade), Team Working (12th Grade), Leadership (12th Grade), Entrepreneurship (12th Grade).
