LET'S EMPOWER GIRLS BY SUPPORTING THEIR EDUCATION

Dear donor,

We welcome 2021 with the hope that it will be much better than the pandemic year of 2020. In spite of all the negative developments in 2020, we managed, with your support as always, to give 2000 new scholarships increasing the number of our scholarship students to 8000.

At the beginning of the new school year, we asked our students how they would  follow distance education and found out that 60% of them did not own tablets or computers. We started a computer campaign and so far supplied 1000 notebook computers and 800 tablets to our students. We hope to supply another 1000 tablets by the time of our next report.

We also started a new on-line Project for the personal development of our scholarship highschool students copartnering with two technological initiatives. 400 girls will profit from the pilot Project which will last for 20 weeks; 100 students from each grade will follow a different weekly curriculum.

We would like to share a note from one of our new students;we are happy to help her to reach her dream..

The new school year will be starting by end September but there are still many uncertainties on how to cope with the pandemic in public schools. The classes are overcrowded, the school facilities cannot accommodate classes with fewer students and there are not enough teachers to downsize the classes.

Distant education is also a problem as many students from disadvantaged families do not own a computer to follow distant education and families with a number of children do not even have space for them to study.

CYDD is already giving high school scholarship to 5078 girls and this year we hope to  support  1500-2000 more girls. CYDD branches in 115 locations take care to be in contact with their scholarship girls and to determine their needs apart from giving scholarships. We are also trying to supply personal computers to as many disadvantaged girls as we can so they can follow distant education.
