"54 YEARS PROTECTING VULNERABLE CHILDREN/COLOMBIA"

In the Corporación SUPERARSE, we work and defend the rights of children, at the same time we work educating their families to protect those rights. Many of the mothers attend these trainings, always looking for the best for their children, although for many of them it is not easy, since they are also sometimes "victims" and their rights are violated, due to the difficult socioeconomic situation in the they who live.

In this special month, our children pay homage to their mothers, who despite facing difficult life situations, always strive for them.

All mothers have something special, although due to their difficulties, because they do not participate in the labor market and do not always have their own income, they live in conditions of poverty at the family level and often have less decision-making power over the destination of the resources of the family. home. This puts them in a position of helplessness and if they do not have the support of a partner, or they become widows and become heads of household facing alone,  family economic needs, in many cases without preparation, without study and without experience to get a quality job and well paid.

This means that most of the children who attend La Corporacion Superarse experience this type of family, however for them there is no better hug and a more magical formula than that of their mothers, who cure everything, in the moments of illness and sadness.

That is why in this month we recognize those efforts, sometimes less evident than other times, but convinced that the hand of the Corporación SUPERARSE we can help them that their children and themselves can get ahead.

In the month of April and as part of the strengthening of the mothers and grandmothers of the children, we began to invite them to an easy cooking class, teaching them the importance of varying the food and taking advantage of the harvest products.

We invite you this month to destine these contributions to those moms that although in unfavorable conditions, never stop fighting for their children!

• During the months of December and January, children and adolescents enjoyed a cultural exchange and knowledge with the international volunteering of Aiesec with young people from different countries in Latin America.

• The Externado modality currently serves 51 children and young people between 7 and 16 years of age who are at psychosocial risk, resident in all neighborhoods and communes of Medellín.

 • The execution and evaluation of the projects "Learning to study" "Learning to live with the other" and "Recreating Recreate" during the year 2017, having an adequate participation and introjection of the workshops by children and adolescents, was satisfactorily completed .

• There is school enrollment of all children and adolescents in educational institutions in the sector, 83% of children and adolescents, being promoted to the next grade.

• The participation of children and adolescents in recreational holiday activities during the month of December was achieved, such as:
Pedagogical outings to parks and nearby courts, ecological walk, picnic, soapy track, celebration of birthdays, elaboration of crafts, sports, Christmas activities, concerts and other play activities.

I was born in the city of Medellín, I am 12 years old, I currently live with my mother, my father lives in the center of the city and sells fruits, with him I have a very good relationship even though my parents separated more than 4 years ago, but with both I share and I love them very much.
I am in La Corporacion Superarse for several years, because my parents have no one to accompany me in my free time before or after my school, before I stayed for long periods of time with my dad in the street or in several public places in the center of the city as parks and libraries, which is dangerous for me.
I really like music and theater, I have participated in cultural presentations in different acts and activities with my classmates. Today I want to give infinite thanks to Superarse by giving me the opportunity to strengthen my tastes and skills in music and theater, the applause on stage are very rewarding and the support of teachers to make me a better child every day is invaluable ...
